Joint Implementation of "Shopping Assistance" in
Yamamoto-cho, Miyagi


Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation (head office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Tsutomu Ebe; "NTT East"), NTT Broadband Platform, Inc. (head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Tadao Kobayashi, "NTTBP"), and Seven & i Holdings Co., Ltd. (head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Chairman & CEO: Toshifumi Suzuki; "Seven & i") will begin to jointly implement a "shopping assistance" service to customers living in temporary housing in Yamamoto-cho, Miyagi as part of the support offered to areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

 


 

1. About the Shopping Assistance Service
 The wireless LAN environments installed in the temporary housing and the "Hikari i-frame" installed in each home will be used to provide a mechanism enabling easy use of Internet shopping using the Seven & i Group's services.
 The roles of each company in the provisioning of the service are shown below.

 

[NTT East]
 Lending "Hikari i-frame" units:
   The company will lend Hikari i-frames preconfigured to use
   the convenient services such as Seven & i's Internet shopping.

 

[NTTBP]
 Establishing wireless LAN environments:
  The Company will set up and provide free wireless LAN Internet
   environments using FLET'S Hikari. The wireless LAN Internet access
   points are provided by Aruba Networks, Inc.

 

[Seven & i]
 Providing mail-order services:
  The company will use Hikari i-frames to provide mail-order
  services tailored to customers living in temporary housing.




Mail-order service to be provided
 Seven Net Shopping, Ito-Yokado Internet Supermarket, 7meal
 * Some services may not be available in certain areas.

2. Implementation Schedule
Starting with the implementation in temporary housing located within the Nagawa Sendai Factory on July 30th and expand the coverage into other temporary housing in Yamamoto-cho.
Also Yamamoto-cho is to be positioned as pilot municipality where Yamamoto-cho to cover part of expenses. At the same time,the effectiveness and any outstanding issues will be identified based upon usage of the service in Yamamoto-cho and opinions of users to review the specifications of future shopping assistance services.
