We helped build the country’s telephone and internet infrastructure and continue to lead in fixed-line, mobile and fiber-optic services.
NTTBP are wireless communication specialists.
As part of the NTT Group, NTTBP specializes in wireless communication services, including free Wi-Fi. We provide secure and convenient Wi-Fi at train stations, commercial facilities and tourist destinations nationwide. Many of the Wi-Fi access points supported by Japan Wi-Fi auto-connect are built and managed by NTTBP.
What data this app collects
We do not collect any Personally Identifiable Information.
We only handle Person-Related Information and Attribute Data that cannot be used to identify individuals.

Personally Identifiable Information
Information that can identify an individual, such as name, address or date of birth
*Definitions are in accordance with Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information.
Person-Related Information
We only collect the app’s product ID, cookies and advertising ID.
This cannot identify individuals on its own.
We do not collect personal contact information such as email addresses or social media accounts.

*Information entered during user registration is not stored on our servers.

Device information, location information, survey responses, etc.
This cannot identify individuals on its own.

Data transmitted during Wi-Fi use, etc.
We do not and cannot collect any data on connection destinations or sent/received content during Wi-Fi use.

Notes
- Data collection is limited to users who have agreed to the app’s Terms of Use and Application Privacy Policy.
If the user is a minor, consent from a parent, guardian or other legal representative is required. - All collected information is strictly managed and never used to identify individuals.
- Person-Related Information and Attribute Information may be shared with third parties such as data analytics companies.
How location data is handled
Location data is used only in a format that does not identify individuals.

The location data*1 collected by the Japan Wi-Fi auto-connect app includes the following:
Location information based on the Wi-Fi access point at the time of connection
(SSID*2・BSSID*3)
GPS location data
(latitude and longitude)
*1 The legal definition of location data follows Japanese law.
*2 A Service Set Identifier (SSID) is the name of a Wi-Fi network that users select when connecting.
*3 A Basic Service Set Identifier (BSSID) is a unique identifier for an access point, mainly used for managing and configuring the network.
Notes
- Your device treats Wi-Fi connection information as location data. For this reason, to enable automatic connection to target Wi-Fi networks while the app is running in the background, location access must be set to “Allow all the time.”
- Data collection is limited to within Japan.
- The app may still send you notifications when you are outside Japan. However, only data collected within Japan is used.

Anonymization of location data
NTTBP never identifies or distinguishes individual users when using location data. When sharing data with third parties such as analytics firms, it is anonymized to prevent identification of individual users and is managed and provided securely.
Opting out
You can opt out of certain types of data collection on an individual basis.
If you do not wish for any data to be used, please uninstall (delete) the app.

After uninstallation, any collected data is retained for a limited period before being completely deleted.
Types of data you can opt out of
Location data
You can disable location access by selecting “Don’t allow” in the app settings section of your device’s settings menu. However, disabling location access may affect core features such as connecting to or authenticating with free Wi-Fi, and map display.
Advertising ID
You can choose “Do not allow tracking” in your device’s settings under the app permissions section. In that case, ads that do not use the advertising ID will be displayed.
Survey responses during user registration
For the registration survey (e.g., age, gender, travel in Japan), you may choose “No answer” for any question.
Data that cannot be individually opted out of
Device-derived attribute information
Information such as device language, OS version, and the app-specific product ID cannot be opted out of individually.
If you wish to have your data deleted immediately
If you would like your data deleted immediately, you can request it using the form below. We do not collect Personally Identifiable Information or Person-Related Information through app usage, so deletion is carried out using the product ID. This ID can be found in the app’s version information menu. If you uninstall the app first, you won’t be able to access the product ID. To ensure prompt deletion, please submit the form before uninstalling the app.
